A NEW LACE DRESS FOR SPRING................AND A FAIRY TALE FROM MILAN

I've bought my first new piece for Spring, in the light, transparent mood of the new season.

This H&M Divided black lace dress has a slim under-slip but the dress itself is an easy shift shape with three-quarter sleeves.  The length is quite short, above the knee, with the back slightly longer than the front and a slit at each side.  Although I have numerous lace pieces in my wardrobe, this is quite different in shape.

I'll wear it now with little lace-up ankle boots and  later in the season with little shoes.  I might even try adding the right boots and jewellery to give it a boho/festival look.

Looking ahead to Autumn!

Last Sunday, my favourite Italian designer, Dolce and Gabbana presented their Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection in Milan.

The background setting at the show was an enchanted forest and the collection had a Medieval fairy tale theme. Romantic, high-waisted, chiffon dresses, sparkling balaclavas and gold key symbols told of princesses, knights and closely guarded castle and forest gates. Motifs on little tunic dresses, capes and coats depicting flowers and woodland creatures (owls, squirrels, wolves...), fur hoods on coats and capes, including one in red (Little Red Riding Hood!), all evoked a fairy tale forest. There were exquisitely embroidered accessories and I liked the little flat, pointed-toe, t-bar shoes the models were wearing. The show ended with a sparkling display of magical little black and silvery dresses.

Milan Fashion Week is now over and Paris Fashion Week is in full swing.  I am excitedly looking forward to seeing the AW2014/15 collections from my favourite French designers.

A BOW NECKLACE

It's New York Fashion Week and across the Atlantic, designers have been presenting their collections for Autumn/Winter 2014/15.  Here in London, in the chilly, windy, showery weather, I am trying to be optimistic and to envisage the coming season - Spring!

Last time I wrote about the makeup the models wore at the recent Dior spring-summer 2014 haute couture show in Paris.  I also loved their little gold bow necklaces, which seemed just right to wear with the light, transparent, feminine clothes that are coming out for Spring.

I looked around for a bow necklace and I soon found this one on the Orelia costume jewellery stand at Top Shop.

This classic little Bow Necklace by Orelia (Style Code ORE5322) was inspired by vintage jewellery and is made in gold colour plated metal.
